Joining the Facilitator Circle

A facilitator is someone who organizes NVC events or offers workshops, practise groups or other NVC related trainings. Anyone in the facilitator circle can post an event on this website. We request that all events be NVC-related. Once a circle member, a facilitator can post and edit information about his/her own events on the website. Facilitators can only modify events they themselves have posted, not general information on the website or anyone else's events.

This page contains a description of our GRNVC policies and a description of the process of joining the facilitator circle. We would enjoy it if you would read what is on this page before asking to join the facilitator circle. It would meet needs for clarity, inclusion and most of all, understanding.

Great River NVC Policies

A Community/Self-responsibility Statement

We request a degree of self-responsibility among the facilitators. In addition to using the website to post activities, we would like you to also support the integrity of the NVC process within the GRNVC community. We want to support NVC dialog; we have faith the process works. Issues will come up and we intend to embrace them as opportunities to learn and grow.

GRNVC and Money

Our consciousness in using NVC is that money is a strategy to meet needs. When we offer use of this website we meet a variety of our own needs, including for contribution, meaning, connection, and growth. We want to also meet our need for support in sustaining the website. Hoping to meet these needs, we ask that each facilitator contribute the most they can for trainings for which they charge money.

At the same time, we have a deep joy in and commitment to making this GRNVC website available to all people regardless of their financial means. This meets our needs for inclusion, hope, and concrete action toward bringing peace to our world. Hoping to meet these needs, we ask that each facilitator contribute no more than they are able to.

We hope that each facilitator will consider our request for 3% of income after expenses an opportunity to consider the variety of needs that exist within your relationship to money—your needs for sustainability, security, ease, comfort, and contribution, among others. We hope that each facilitator would consider her/his needs along with ours, which we described above, and arrive at an amount that reflects your financial reality grounded in your needs. Hoping to meet all of our needs, we ask that each facilitator contribute the most that you would like to.

We are excited about this approach as we predict that, over time, it will contribute to meeting all of our needs for learning and for moving toward a society in which everyone's needs can be met.

And we are open to contributions from anyone at any time to sustain this work and website.

Please note that you, as a facilitator, will not be billed for any amount. It is up to YOU to make a contribution when you're ready to do so.

Contributions to GRNVC

To make a contribution, please use our Contact form and choose the category "Get donation imformation." We will send you directions for making a contribution.

Sustainability of the Website

We want our website to be self-sustaining. There is an annual hosting charge of $385 for managed Drupal hosting (which includes security updates), plus the annual domain name registration, which is around $30 (3 domain names with privacy). In addition, we are not yet certain how much effort it will take our webmaster (who has given us a steeply discounted rate because she values NVC) to manage the site, though we designed it to be as self-managing as possible. After much discussion, we decided to request 3% of the income after expenses (please see section above) from each facilitator holding a paid training/event/practice group. We will adjust this request as we see how well this sustains our costs. Please notice that we will not bill you.

Alignment with CNVC

To support alignment with CNVC, we ask that you read CNVC's Guidelines for Sharing NVC For Those who are not CNVC-Certified Trainers.

Minutes of Preliminary Meetings

Here are pdf versions of the minutes of the meetings where we discussed these policies:
June 1, 2008 meeting minutes
June 6, 2008 meeting minutes (document being prepared)

Note: we have significantly changed the procedure for becoming a GRNVC facilitator since the original meetings.

Joining the Facilitator Circle

Anyone can request membership in the facilitator circle with access to post events on this website. Becoming a facilitator on the greatrivernvc.org website is a two-step process.

NOTE 1:
The initial facilitator circle will be formed by having everyone who is interested go through the application process with the dialog happening among the initial applicants.

NOTE 2: Before requesting facilitator access, please set up a member account. It is not possible to give facilitator access to an anonymous viewer. Please include your User Name in your emails so we can find your account easily.

Step 1:

Email the current facilitator circle using the Contact form on this website, selecting the category "Joining the facilitator crcle" which automatically sends your email to all the current facilitators. Please copy the following six questions, paste them into the email and respond to them:

1) Introduce yourself: state your name and city/state, indicate that you want facilitator access.

2) What is your experience with NVC?

3) What is your response to CNVC's Guidelines for Sharing NVC For Those who are not CNVC-Certified Trainers?

4) What is your response to the community/self-responsibility statement (above on this page)?

5) What is your intention regarding offering trainings and/or practice groups?

6) We request that only pure NVC trainings and practice groups be posted on the website. What is your response to this request?

Step 2:

The webmaster gives the applicant facilitator access to the website.
